On Friday night numerous headstones in Mt. Hope Cemetery were vandalized with spray paint, along with the cemetery sign and the shed. Dane County Sheriff’s Department is investigating and collecting evidence. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Brooklyn Police – Dane County Sheriff’s Office. We appreciate the offers to clean the headstones, but please contact the village before proceeding. We are exploring cleaning options that will not further damage the headstones. The Village is deeply saddened by these events and would like to assure the families we will do everything we can to restore the monuments.
